Jacksonville Beach – Beach Boulevard

Jacksonville Beach is home water for the Duval Ocean Swimmers, who have swum more than a mile here every morning for nearly 30 years, and the HammerHead Ocean Marathon finishes by the historic lifeguard station at the end of Beach Boulevard each August. Towers are staffed seasonally, so check the flag and ask the guards about rip currents before you head out.

Know before you go

Getting in: Public beach at the east end of Beach Blvd., in front of the Jax Beach Lifeguard Station.
Parking & transport: City paid parking runs March 6–November 1, 2026, Friday night through Sunday plus holidays and events, in lots including Latham Plaza (14 1st St. N) and the Pier lot (503 1st St. N): $4 for the first two hours, $2 per hour after, $12 maximum; card or app only.
Lifeguards: Jacksonville Beach Ocean Rescue staffs towers seasonally and based on conditions, with patrol coverage year-round.
Water quality: Florida Department of Health Healthy Beaches Program samples the 'Beach Blvd Access' site for enterococci bacteria every 1–2 weeks depending on county (Good 0–35, Moderate 36–70, Poor 71+ per 100 mL); an advisory is issued when a sample and its resample both exceed 70.
Season: Towers staffed seasonally; the local swim group swims year-round.
Who swims here: The Duval Ocean Swimmers (Duval Open Water Swim Club) swim over a mile along Jacksonville Beach every morning and have for nearly 30 years. The HammerHead Ocean Marathon (1K, 2K and 5K; 21st edition on Aug. 22, 2026) finishes just north of the lifeguard station and supports the Volunteer Life Saving Corps.
