Asbury Park Beach

Asbury Park has a mile of guarded ocean beach in front of the boardwalk, Convention Hall and the Casino. During staffed hours the swim zones are marked with buoys and ropes; watch the conditions flag and follow the guards when they call swimmers in from rough water. The stretch between the Eighth Avenue and Deal Lake Drive jetties is surf-only, and NJ Transit trains stop in town.

Know before you go

Getting in: Beach passes (badges or wristbands) are required Memorial Day weekend–Labor Day: 2026 rates $70 adult season, $20 senior or teen season, $7 weekday daily, $10 weekend/holiday daily; children 12 and under free. Sold online at apbeachpasses.com and at the Beach Office (1st Avenue and the Boardwalk).
Parking & transport: Metered street parking; accessible parking and curb cuts on every block. Asbury Park station on NJ Transit's North Jersey Coast Line is under a mile from the boardwalk.
Lifeguards: 2026 hours: weekends and holidays 9 a.m.–6 p.m. from Memorial Day weekend to June 12; from June 13 to Labor Day, weekdays 9 a.m.–5 p.m. and weekends/holidays 9 a.m.–6 p.m. The city asks swimmers not to swim when guards are off duty.
Water quality: Monitored under New Jersey's Cooperative Coastal Monitoring Program (NJDEP with local health departments), which samples ocean bathing beaches for bacteria mid-May to mid-September; advisories are posted at njbeaches.org.
Season: Guarded Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day (weekends only until mid-June).
Watch for: Rough water: follow the conditions flag and leave the water when lifeguards say so
No swimming in the surf-only zone between the Deal Lake Drive and Eighth Avenue jetties
