Treyarnon Bay Tidal Pool
A partly built rock pool on the north side of Treyarnon Bay, around eight feet deep in places and topped up by every tide. At low water it gives a sheltered swim a few metres from the Atlantic surf, and older children and families use it as a natural swimming pool. Check tide times before you go: the sea floods quickly around Trethias Island at the end of the beach and people do get cut off.

- Best conditions
- Around low tide, when the rock pool is cut off from the sea and works as a swimming pool.
- Getting in
- Free, open access in the rocks at the northern end of Treyarnon beach; the South West Coast Path runs across the back of the beach. Dogs are allowed on the beach all year.
- Parking & transport
- Beach car park, often full at busy times.
- Lifeguards
- Treyarnon is an RNLI lifeguarded beach in summer; daily patrols restarted on 2 May in 2026.
- Water quality
- The 'Treyarnon Bay' bathing water was rated Excellent by the Environment Agency in 2024 and 2025.
- Season
- Best in the summer lifeguard season (daily RNLI patrols from 2 May in 2026).
- Watch for
- Tide comes in quickly around Trethias Island at the south end of the beach, cutting people off
- Deep gully and cave around the island are dangerous except at low tide
- Atlantic surf on the open beach beyond the pool
