Naples Beach at the Pier

The Naples Pier juts 1,000 feet into the Gulf along the city's nearly nine miles of beach, and it makes a handy marker for out-and-back swims along the shore on either side. The pier was badly damaged by Hurricane Ian in 2022, so check the city's updates on pier and beach-access closures before you go. Red tide can reach this coast, most often in late summer and fall.

Getting in: Public beach at the Naples Pier, one of about 40 beach accesses along the City of Naples' nearly nine miles of Gulf coastline. Hurricane Ian caused significant damage to the pier and to a number of beach accesses; check the city's post-Ian access updates.
Water quality: Florida Department of Health Healthy Beaches Program samples the 'Naples Pier' site for enterococci bacteria every 1–2 weeks depending on county (Good 0–35, Moderate 36–70, Poor 71+ per 100 mL); an advisory is issued when a sample and its resample both exceed 70.
Watch for: Red tide (Karenia brevis): FWC says blooms occur in the Gulf almost every year, generally in late summer or early fall, most often between Clearwater and Sanibel Island
