Lake Del Valle East Beach

Del Valle is a five-mile reservoir in the oak hills south of Livermore, with two swim beaches that have lifeguards on summer weekends. Swimming is also allowed year-round without lifeguards north of the boat ramp. Sailboats, windsurfers and other boats share the lake, so stay inside the beach areas, and check the park's water-level and algae notices before you drive out.

Know before you go

Getting in: Del Valle Regional Park, on Del Valle Road off Mines Road about 10 miles south of Livermore; East Bay Regional Park District.
Parking & transport: $5 per vehicle; a $10 flat entry fee applies on weekends and holidays from April through Labor Day (covers parking and boat launch).
Lifeguards: Lifeguards 11am to 6pm at East and West beaches on weekends and holidays, May 16 to Sept. 27 (2026 season); year-round unguarded swimming is allowed north of the boat ramp.
Water quality: EBRPD and Alameda County Environmental Health test both swim beaches for bacteria weekly from April to October and twice a month from November to March, and post blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) advisories when blooms are found.
Season: Lifeguarded summer weekends; unguarded swimming allowed year-round north of the boat ramp.
