Derwentwater at Crow Park
Crow Park is a grassy National Trust field on the shore of Derwentwater, a few minutes' walk from Keswick town centre, with views down the lake to Cat Bells and Derwent Isle. The Keswick launches and hire boats use the landing stages nearby, so keep close to the shore and away from the jetties. The bathing water here was rated Poor in 2024 and 2025, so check current notices first.

Know before you go
- Best conditions
- Calm days; the national park advises swimming along the shoreline and avoiding jetties, moorings and boating routes.
- Getting in
- Crow Park is National Trust land on the lakeshore a short walk from Keswick; Friar's Crag viewpoint is a short walk from the Keswick boat landings. Swimming is allowed on Derwentwater, but there is no access to the islands.
- Parking & transport
- National Trust pay-and-display car parks in the area (payment machines and JustPark app; free for members).
- Water quality
- Designated bathing water 'Derwent Water at Crow Park': classified Poor by the Environment Agency in both 2024 and 2025.
- Watch for
- Busy lake: a regular passenger launch runs between landing stages and powered craft are allowed (10 mph limit)
- Keep away from jetties and moorings
- Cold water shock; blue-green algae possible in warm, dry weather
